ELIWAGAR
Eliwagar - Norse Romantic Folk Music
Runahild Håleygir started Eliwagar back in december 2006 during the winter solstice. back then, she was living in Lothringen and recorded 3 cds alone. In february 2010, she decided to move to Norway to go back to her roots and heritage, feeling lesser connection to a land she didn't belong to, and the north calling her stronger and stronger as time passed by. She was going there to work into an organic farm in winter time and met Bjørn, now her husband, who became guitarist for her project. This lifestyle in an mountain farm is a big part of Eliwagar's meaning and existence. The ideology behind Eliwagar is back to nature and back to the roots, fully and totally in harmony with mother earth and father sky. Eliwagar's lyrics are about love to the motherland, to the family and dearest ones, and are about the very old nordic heritage nearly forgotten. Unlike those calling themselves for Asatru (the faith in the Aesir gods) Runahild calls herself for Vanafolk (the people of the Vanir/who hail the Vanir) since the Vanir are the oldest gods in Norway and in the north and have a real stronger connection to the northern lands for her, while the Aesir have had their roots in the more southern Germanic lands where they were the highest there. The Vanir gods are the gods of fertility and wealthy harvests, nature, love, family and heritage but also death and the ancestors. they are the gods of a time when people lived in harmony with the motherland and with each other, when every family had their own farm and freedom, had pride in their heritage and ancestors. The energies of the Vanir and the society they represent is the strongest inspiration for Eliwagar music. The band describes their music for: "Norse Romantic Folk Music". ELIWAGAR items we have:
