ABSU
Occult black metal band from USA. Formerly known as Dolmen, which evolved via Azathoth, Eternus and Necrotic into Absu in 1991. Calling themselves "Mythological Occult Metal, "Absu" in Sumerian mythology refers to a subterranean ocean. The band draws on Sumerian, Celtic and other ancient mythologies, supervised by Proscriptor.
Absu's releases go by conceptual cycles: the first 2 albums are based on Sumerian mythology; while 'The Third Storm of Cythraul', 'In the Eyes of Ioldanach' and 'Tara' form a trilogy about old Celtic mythology. After a hiatus of 5 years the band returned in 2007 and released the self-titled album in 2009, the first part of a new trilogy based on magick and occultism.
